Sony "Recall" Millions of LCD Televisions


Sony announced a recall or offer free inspections and repairs for approximately 1.6 million units of LCD televisions that have a potential production problems. Sony's announcement was issued on Wednesday (12.10.2011), after receiving 11 reports of overheated problem on LCD TV products in Japan. There are no reports of injuries or damage, in addition to damage to the television.

Some units of Sony LCD TV Bravia models reported possible effects of smoke components in flames. In explanation of the press release issued by the Sony, Japan, the problematic component that causes the incident is also embedded in the LCD TV products that are marketed throughout the world.

This troubled television produced between 2007 and 2008. Mostly sold in Europe and the United States. Although many are sold in Japan and some of its components exist in television units are sold all over the world.

Sony will publicize the event to the user through a website, while for some countries will be via e-mail and advertisements in the newspapers. With this incident, the television division of Sony to dominate the market for eight consecutive years must be prepared to abdicate the throne because of "pressure" its competitors, Samsung and LG.
