Google Inc. is starting a pilot project to add a feature that allows the public to view the contents or interior places in Google Maps. Google assured that the privacy of companies included in this project will not be disturbed.
Such features are in addition to previous technologies have been developed by these companies, namely street view technology. This technology enables users of Google Maps 360-degree view exterior images.
However, the development of this feature could reap protest the employers because they would interfere with their privacy. However, the Google convinced that this technology will only display photos of the photographer-quality, does not show the contents of the building in real time. Moreover, entrepreneurs are also given the opportunity to enter photographs of their own for use by Google.
"We hope to help companies introduce their services with high quality images. Constructed from Google Art Projects which have included 17 leading museums, the project is expected to also be used by businesses to promote their products through online channels," said a spokeswoman for Google Inc..
This service plan will be available to hotels, restaurants, shopping centers, and fitness center. This service will also facilitate public facilities such as hospitals and law offices to help people find places they need.
Services will start from several countries, namely Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and the United States. Starting from the U.S., some companies are already listed by Google to send out invitations to photographers Google to do the photocall of the building interior. Photoshoot will produce an image 360 degrees using a fish-eye and wide-angle lens so that the results correspond to the Google Maps format.
