Social networking site Facebook is rumored to acquire Gowalla, location-sharing service companies from Texas USA.
Gowalla launched in 2009 could be called as a strong competitor Foursquare, both offer the same services although this time people prefer Foursquare to share their location with colleagues.
The news was first reported by CNNMoney, which says although there has been no official statement from either party but the Facebook and Gowalla Gowalla founder Josh Williams and all of its employees were preparing to move to the Facebook headquarters in Palo Alto, California, USA.
On Facebook, Gowalla team is assigned instead to develop features such as location sharing service owned by Foursquare. However, they were given responsibility for developing Facebook Timeline feature, which was launched on Facebook F8 conference last September.
Timeline Facebook itself is a feature, or perhaps rather a page which will replace the existing Profile Page on Facebook. The concept of a Profile Page will be replaced by a timeline that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg called the place the story of your life, your application, and your place of expression.
