Big reshuffle in Ubuntu "Oneiric OCELOT"


One Linux distro, Ubuntu, get a massive update on Thursday (13/10/2011). The developers behind the popular Linux distro Ubuntu released version 11:10, codename Oneiric OCELOT. This update brings changes and improvements in large scale, including increased performance of Ubuntu Unity Launcher.

The new version of Ubuntu is released every six months that follow the cycle of development that is based on time. Although only released today, 11:10 version has been prepared since last March, shortly before 11:04 version was released.

Ubuntu founder, Mark Shuttleworth chose the codename for Ubuntu 11:10 Oneiric OCELOT this. This name, according to Mark, described the cycle of 11:10 version emphasizes on two things, namely dreams and disiplin.Selain that, when interpreted word for word, "Oneiric", in Greek, meaning dream and "OCELOT" is a kind of wild cats that live in Central and South America.

Ubuntu does have a unique gift distronya name using the name of the animal. Similar to Android that each version uses the name of the dessert for breakfast.

In addition to significant changes in appearance, many changes were made in the Ubuntu developer team is 11:10. Such as, e-mail client Mozilla Thunderbird Evolution replaced. Gwibber social networking applications to increase performance drastically. From the back-end, 11:10 Ubuntu using Linux kernel 3.0 and many components of GNOME 3.2.
