Help Victims of Turkey Earthquake, Google Activate Person Finder


Google enable the service or web application Person Finder to help search for victims of earthquake measuring 7.3 magnitude that shook Turkey, Sunday (23/10/2011). This earthquake has killed at least 217 people and as many as 1090 people were injured.

People search service was first implemented during the earthquake hit Haiti in January 2010. By using this service Person Finder, the public can report a lost family or relatives and vice versa society or organization can provide information to help search for missing victims.

Since then, Person Finder has been used to help victims of earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand in September 2010 and the earthquake / tsunami in Japan in March this year. Today, Person Finder re-used for the first time in Turkey.

Person Finder is one product of a non-profit institution owned by Google, Google.org. On this website Google Person Finder noted there are 55,100 people disappeared during earthquakes in Haiti, 11 600 people missing after the earthquake in New Zealand, and more than 600,000 people were reported missing after the tsunami disaster in Japan.
