Social Media For Business Data Sources?


The fact that social media could serve as a medium for marketing, campaigns, and branding is not be denied anymore. However, social media as a source of insight and useful data for companies that influence the decision-making has not been glimpsed or considered.

How to use social media phenomena for the purpose of the world Indonesia? This is discussed in the chat IBM research "The CIO Study" with Charles Kamau Njendu, Senior Engagement Manager of IBM Global Business Services Singapore and Dino Bramanto, Country Manager of IBM Global Technology Services Indonesia, today (10/06/2011) in Jakarta.

Globally, Njendu say, the phenomenon of using social media as a source of insight and global business data is currently being developed. "Facebook is now being used by marketers to engage with the customer, including obtaining information. Although the need to be wise also to take information from social media," said Njendu.

Meanwhile, in Indonesia, Doni said, "So far, social media is still used most of its designation. There are already using it as a marketing medium. But for business purposes such as obtaining customer data, it has not been much done."

Nevertheless, the signs of the use of social media for the purpose of insight and data to support business interests in Indonesia has begun today. At least, said Doni, it has been started in the banking sector where there is a large bank in Indonesia which is currently utilizing social media to serve the customer complaints.

"There has been a large bank in Indonesia that currently utilize social media. It is still on efforts to service such as customer complaints, as well as imaging and confirm or to counter the growing issue. But I believe, the future direction would be towards social media there, "said Doni.

Resource and data management is currently very important for a company to develop business strategies and survive in the midst of competition. In addition to business analytics and intelligent as a knife analysis, sources of data such as social media becomes a new way to obtain valuable information.

Research "The CIO Study" conducted by an interview to IBM about 3000 Chief Executive Officer (CIO), including 168 people from among themselves is an attempt to understand the trend of the CIO role in business today. It is known that the CIO role is increasingly important, 68% of companies feel that technology is important for the development of the company and 58% of companies have integrated business and technology to help innovate.
